The recently discovered memo dated 1966 is a subject for discussion in the modern world of sport. In his writing, an American football player Buddy Young covers the issue of African-American players and warns that disrespect towards them may lead to protests (Lukas para. 2). Personally, I see this memo as a unique discovery addressing an important social problem and depicting almost prophetic initiatives that are actual nowadays.

The memo is written in a logical and detailed way. It seems to apply to emotion and authority in the first place since Young underlines the aspects of civil rights and dignity of black players and calls for a response from the League. By describing the career of particular athletes, he makes the memo more specific and emphasizes that the NFL has to pay more attention to assert the rights of black players. This document is an example of the cyclic nature of history. Indeed, Youngs proposals reflect current player programs and are described as very progressive and courageous (Lukas para. 7). Artifacts like this are essential for both history and business. They demonstrate the issues of the past, help predict future changes, and serve as a foundation for further solutions.
