Introduction

Kenya is one of the most beautiful African countries I have ever been to. I am always thrilled to visit it. However, it has taken some time since I was there. I could not hide my happiness when my family finally settled in the country for the winter holidays.

One thing that truly excites me about the country is that there is always a variety of opportunities to discover something new, beginning with the unique tribes to the national dishes, culture, parks for wild animals, vegetation, fashion, and so on. This makes me spoilt for choice!

Main Body

When the plane landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 10.00 p.m., we finally felt relief from the long journey. Immediately, we were picked by an attendant from the Serena Hotel. After a short drive, we checked in to the hotel.

The following morning, we set off to Masai Mara National Reserve located in the South-western part of the country. It has extensions into neighboring Tanzania. The terrain is majorly grassland and has some rivers lets. This place is full of wild animals of all types! The eco-system is just amazing. The animals have seasons of migration. The life is in full swing there; gazelles escape from predators while lions prey on them.

Moreover, one should include Lake Victoria in his/her visits list. The freshwater lake is located in the western region of the country, particularly, Kisumu, Nyanza Province, bordering upon Uganda. Rowing a boat is very refreshing. Some people use canoes. There are several restaurants along the lake shores. Particularly, they sell fried tilapia fish and ugali. No one leaves the place without a bite.

Kenya is endowed with a large variety of cultures. Specifically, there are about 42 ethnic tribes there. The major tribes include the Agikuyu, the Luo, and the Luhya. We had a chance to have a glimpse of almost every tribe. It is so amazing to hear the different languages. We were entertained by dances from different cultures. Among them were Ohangla by the Luo, Isikuti by the Lughyas, and Mogithi by the Agikuyus.

There were different delicious African dishes that were worth tasting! It was a real treat for us at the Bomas. Some foods were spiced with milk to taste. We were also tasted traditionally roasted meat and mutton. Finally, we enjoyed a view of the different art works in Kenya. It was amazing to see the different sculptures of animals and men. I bought a number of souvenirs.

Our vacation was culminated by a visit to the Coast Province. I enjoyed the time at the sandy beaches, playing on the sand, swimming, and laying under the scorching sun. These were moments that were turned into memories. There were many people from all walks of life there. We also visited some sites, such as Fort Jesus built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, Hindu Temple which showed the diversity of Mombasa culture, the Gedi Ruins and Mombasa Tusks built in commemoration of the visit by Queen Elizabeth.

Conclusion

Kenya is truly an amazing country. It is not even possible to see all the tourist attractions on a holiday trip. The beauty therein is so nice to behold. The people are so welcoming and very courteous. I have never regretted having spent time and resources to visit this beautiful country.
