College is brought out to be the only way to success and to become someone important. Students go to college to increase their earnings and have career options. However, not every student manages to successfully graduate. Dropout rates rise. According to the website Think Impact, forty percent of students drop out every year. There are many reasons why a student drops out of college.

One of the reasons is indecisive of major. Students take unnecessary classes that do not relate with what they actually want to do because they are indecisive of what major to go into and end up not needing all the classes. For example, one of my family members was going to school to get her doctorate and had finished ninety percent of her general education classes plus nursing school and stopped half way into nursing school and decided that path was not meant for her anymore, so then she had to take different classes for a bachelors degree in Spanish. Students switch their major to something different not realizing that they have to start all over. Many students strive for the easy careers, but end up being the hard ones. They become frustrated and they call it quits.

Another reason is financial problems. Many students dont have the help of their parents, so they end up taking out loans because they dont have any money. Then they run out of money, so now they need a job. Students start working more hours. They get a second job to help pay housing and finance car causing college to go downhill. Many dont have the time to do homework assignments and work, so they end up calling quitting.

The third reason could be family issues. Having family issues can be very stressful because we cannot predict the future and emergencies that can pop up. Students often have to attend their families because they are in need of full time help and there is no one else than help them. For instance, someone that has a stroke needs a lot of care and attention. Nursing homes can be very expensive, so that leaves families with no other choice than take care of their own family member. Many students are responsible to help their families full time. So, this causes them to leave college.

Last reason is school pressure. People deciding on going to college can be very challenging. They are putting school pressure on top of their own life situations. When people start college, they deal with homework and studying that take up a lot of time. They also have to deal with family. Balancing homework and studying with cooking dinner and helping their own kids with homework can lead to high stress. Putting a lot of pressure on your body can be harmful. It can lead to anxiety and depression. Students face challenges and pressures as they are trying to adapt to a new chapter and adding work load. For instance, studying for a biology test and having to finish an essay on top of fitting in personal life and getting all that done in two days can put a lot of pressure on the scapula and dorsal. At the end students drop out.

Overall, looking at these reasons many students often dont realize that it is not high school anymore and not everything in life can be given very easy. We have to be able to put our time into work and school and balance everything. Since college dropout is becoming a real problem today, have to find a way for that percentage of students that drop out to be less.
