The question of sexuality has always been an ongoing issue for human society. Being one of the basic instincts, sexual interest impacts the life of an individual and predetermines the choice of a partner. Sexuality plays a crucial role in the process as it conditions this very choice and results in the formation of certain patterns responsible for the appearance of sexual desire. Naturally, the representatives of the opposite gender attract each other and are considered to be the traditional couple which is able to give birth to the next generation. However, the evolution of science and humanistic approach gives rise to the appearance of another perspective on sexuality that admits the existence of various deviations in human nature that impact the evolution of another type of sexual desire and libido.

The article Love beyond gender is also devoted to the above-mentioned issue. The author of the work states that nowadays gender could not be considered the main determiner of attraction and sexual interest (Abbott, 2016). She provides the relations between a transgender couple as the example to prove her ideas. Abbott uses Psychology Today as the platform to manifest her ideas and attract peoples attention to the issue. She addresses both specialists and common people as the language chosen for the article is rather simple. Yet, the ideas suggested by her correlate with numerous studies of human sexuality. Besides, she is sure that transgender people have special demands that come from the unusual character of their sexual interest. Several researches prove this very idea, admitting the great importance of the opportunity to belong to the desired gender and proclaim true sexuality (Davidson & Moore, 2001).

In the article, the given issue is analyzed from various perspectives. Abbott (2016) is sure that if a person accepts his/her sexuality, the quality of life will be much better. Additionally, she is sure that in case a person has a loving partner, his/her gender will not play such a significant role as his/her personality does. The given statement introduces the idea of significant alterations of the attitude towards sexuality and its traditional image. The modern society is ready to accept the existence of another point of view on the given issue and recognizes the rights of these people (Fausto-Sterling, 2000). Additionally, the article touches upon the issue of homosexuality which is one of the major concerns of the modern sexuality studies. The author is sure that it should be accepted as one of the natural manifestations of peoples libido and sexual interest. Her ideas are proven by a number of credible studies that also tend to acknowledge the existence of significant shifts in peoples mentality that are responsible for the acquisition of new sexual interests (Martin, 1991).

Altogether, the article Love beyond gender revolves around the topical issue of homosexuality and transgender people and provides the authors perspective on the given issue. Abbott is sure that gender does not play such a crucial role in peoples relations at the moment
