The video that was selected for the analysis is the interview of James Dimon, the chairman and CEO of the financial holding JPMorgan Chase & Co. During the interview, the non-verbal ques exemplified by Dimon allows for an in-depth examination of his message as well as his personality as an individual. It is unlikely that the aforementioned cues were intentional as they persisted during the entire interview and seemed organic in the setting. Thus, their accidental nature is a factor that generated an understanding of the content of the dialogue.

James Dimon used the notions of power and appearance effectively as the gestures and posture exemplified during the interview imposed a strong presence and a confident illustration of his idea. Namely, the body language that aligns with said elements includes a straight posture, multiple hand gestures, and leaning back, elements illustrating Dimons confidence and control of the situation. As a result, the viewer was engaged in the message, primarily due to the hand movements. Researchers mention that evidence shows manual gestures were the primary communication measure from which language has been constructed (De Stefani & De Marco, 2019). Thus, the audience subconsciously emerged in the conversation as the speaker was exemplifying his ideas and thoughts through his hands. Moreover, leaning back was perceived as a sign of superiority, which adds to the validity of his words in the perception of those listening.

Overall, the use of nonverbal cues was effectively based on the setting of the conversation. The professional interview was applied with the intention of informing the audience on economic matters. The confidence, professionalism, and assertiveness of the gestures and posture were perceived as knowledge and reliance on the information that James Dimon was sharing.
