Do you want our sea creatures and our plants to die? Water pollution has been a massive problem for centuries. It occurs when damaging substances such as chemicals enter and contaminate bodies of water, causing water to become toxic to the environment and us humans. I strongly believe that water pollution should be stopped because it kills our sea creatures, it affects humans through deadly water-borne diseases and it poisons our green plants.

Many of our sea creatures are being killed by water pollution. The main reason for this is plastics. Innocent sea creatures are eating plastic because they believe that they are food. When they consume the plastic, it stays in their stomach and once it is in there, the plastic prevents food digestion, which then gives the animal a horrific but slow death. Whats even worse is that every year, experts tell us that around 4.8 to 12.7 million tons of plastic are thrown into the ocean. Imagine the future for our sea animals if we continue to throw more plastics into the ocean?

Humans are also being affected. There are numerous water-borne diseases such as Cholera, Typhoid, Dysentery, and Malaria. There are also chemicals which can give us appalling effects on our health, pesticides that can cause cancer and destroy the nervous system, flourides that can inflict damage to the spinal cord, and there are others that are far worse. Research from The World Counts shows us that 3,575,000 people die per year due to these water-borne diseases. Unfortunately, young children are the majority of these deaths.

Our green plants life cycles are changing due to acid rain and phytotoxicity. Acid rain kills the plant by changing the surrounding pH levels. It forms because of nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide which are produced by burning fossil fuels and volcanic activities. These acids return to soil through precipitation. It then makes its way into bodies of water and lowers pH levels. Phytotoxicity is when chemical toxins enter marine or terrestrial surroundings. Plants can possibly absorb these chemical toxins through their roots, ending the plants lives

Water pollution has been a massive problem for countless years now. Many of our sea creatures are suffering from water pollution, humans are being affected through water-borne diseases and our green plants are consuming disgusting, horrible chemical toxins/poisons. Do you really want this to happen to more sea creatures, us humans, and our green plants?
